Vera Wang Lavender Black Silk Sleeveless Dress

I bought another dress - Vera Wang Lavender Black Silk Sleeveless Dress, from Ruelala.  I think this one will conclude my dress binge.  =)  I really love this dress, and the price is awesome!  It was selling for $69, when the original price is $449.  I basically bought it to try on since I was very curious, even though I have no occasion right now to wear it.  But I think it will be one of those museum pieces that looks pretty in my closet!

It's so hard to make out details of black items when using my iphone and not very good lighting in my hallway.  So these web shots should be better:

So this dress is made of crinkled shiffon silk material.  It has the rhinestoned sash that ties in the back.  I really like the asymmetrical neckline, and the upper body is corsetted so it sucks you in very well.  Though I must say, it sure is hard to zip up!  I bought this dress in a size 6, because my other Vera Wang Lavender dress is a size 4 and it is just a bit too tight in the chest.  And from wedding dress shopping, I know Vera is a mean seamstress.  But the size 6 is very tight fitting in this dress.  It basically fits like second skin on top.  The zipper does not zip up easily even when I'm not wearing it, so I had a lot of trouble putting it on!  I almost gave up and returned it.  But alas, it did happen in the end.  I'm actually pretty happy with it even though it is a little hard to breath with the corset top.

I am keeping it though.  I just can't bare to return it!  And I'm sure an occasion for it will come at some point!  Besides, I think my Cesare Paciotti Crystal pumps will go very well with this dress.  I should have worn them in my photo, but I don't know where they are right now.

Sunday Funday!

I feel like this week flew by!  Can't believe it is now already Sunday afternoon.  I had a pretty busy week, and was only able to workout 4 days.  But I kind of killed myself working out this weekend, so I feel a little bit better about that.

I took Monday off to rest, so this will begin on Tuesday.

Tuesday 8/21
What I did:  Tennis lesson.  I didn't play very well and was kind of upset about it.  Also got reprimanded for missing previous week's class.  Oh well, it just wasn't my day.

I also took a picture of my work outfit from the same day, which was an Express outfit - both from years ago actually.  I am really liking this style for work nowadays, with a blouse or button down shirt tucked into a skirt and a wide belt.

Wednesday 8/22 - Took it off to have my eyelash appointment

Thursday 8/23 - Was planning to play tennis after work, but at the last minute got talked into going to happy hour instead.  I actually had high hopes that I'd have a drink or two, then go play.  But my tennis partner knew from the beginning that that was not going to happen.  He was right.

But here is my work outfit from Thursday.  I wore my DEPT jersey dress, which I never wear since I'm not sure how I feel about the sleeves.  I might cut them off one of these days because I do like how the dress fits otherwise.

Friday 8/24
What I did:  Lifted weights.

On Friday, I wore my new dress from Nordstrom - the Tahari ASL Surplice Woven Shirt Dress.  I was happy with it for the most part, but it did get kind of wrinkly after sitting for a few hours.

Saturday 8/25
What I did:  Boxing, and I was hitting so hard!  My instructor was really impressed with my hooks, and gave me mad props.  :D

What I wore:  I got some guts and wore an 80s inspired outfit... haha.  I wore my new heathered angel blue cool racerback that I just received, paired with my power purple embossed wunder unders that I finally took the tags off!  I would have gone with crazier shoes but I decided to tone that part down a little and wore my white New Balance Minimus Road shoes.

I actually carried my boxing gear in my angel blue Jump Start gym bag.  Got lots of compliments on this outfit at the gym, but I'm not sure if they were genuine or they thought I looked crazy and felt like they had to say something!  Hahaha.

Sunday 8/26
What I did:  I got up bright and early today to go to my interval training class.  I did so many runs and weights.  My arms were already kind of tired and sore from boxing yesterday, so the 100+ pushups and pushup/side plank combos were not fun to do.

What I wore:  Lululemon swiftly tank in pow pink, with pow pink Free To Be bra under.  I really love this bra, but I'm afraid of bleeding so I pair it with the same colored tank - so sad.  But I am madly in love with my pow pink swiftly tank so that's ok.  I wore my Power Vinyasa Crops with it.

And that's it for this week!  I am super tired right now and in need of a nap.  Maybe I need to go to bed at like 7 pm tonight!  Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Lululemon Cool Racerback in Heathered Angel Blue

I am very happy that the angel blue color is back from Lululemon! It was one of my favorite colors when it first came out a few years ago but I never bought a cool racerback in it. I have regretted that ever since, but now it's back and it's mine!!!

Well this time it is heathered, but the color is still very vibrant. I compared it with my angel blue Define Jacket from the first run and the colors are pretty much identical. So I ripped the tags off and wore it right away! So excited! :)

Tahari by Arthur S. Levine Surplice Woven Shirtdress

I am so happy right now because I bought this dress from Nordstrom.com last Friday: Tahari by Arthur S. Levine Surplice Woven Shirtdress, it arrived today and I freaking love it!!  The best part is, I bought it for $85.90 ($93 after taxes), but when I went on the Nordstrom website just now to link this post to, I noticed that it went on sale again and is currently selling for $49.97, down from the original price of $129!  So obviously I instantly contacted Nordstrom's via live chat (apparently they still work at 9:30 pm PST), and they gave me a price adjustment right away.  I was willing to keep this dress at $93, but now I'm getting $40 back and it is even better!  Gotta love Nordstrom's customer service!!!  I strongly urge you to get this dress at this price, because it is amazing, and will definitely be a staple in anyone's closet.

Here it is on me, I love the military style and the olive color.  And love the big side pockets!!

Here's the dress on the model:

The color in real life probably looks somewhere in between the model pics than mine.  I think it shows up a little too dark on my phone pic - it's not as green in person.  But anyway, I really love the wrap style on top, and the two little faux pockets on the chest are so cute.  There's a zipper on the back that goes all the way up the middle.  It's pull on style, so it's not really a wrap dress as it might seem in the photos.  It's made very well, the material is heavy enough to hide flaws, and there's also an inner lining so it's on the thick side.  I bought it in a size 4 and it fits like a glove.  I wish I had bought my other recent Tahari A.S.L dress in a size 4 instead of 6!  Oh yeah btw, that one is now also $49 at Nordstrom, but the smallest size they have is a 6.  It's also an amazing dress.  I am loving this brand right now.  This is my 3rd item from them and so far they've all been major winners.

I'm pretty sure I can wear this dress to work.  It may be a bit on the casual side, but I can definitely get away with it on Fridays.  Maybe even Thursdays too.  =)  But of course it works well for many occasions outside of work as well.  I seriously cannot wait to wear this!!!

I actually bought another dress from Nordstrom but it looks way cuter online than it does on me so I'm returning it.  It is the Adrianna Papell Colorblock Faux Wrap Jersey Dress.

I thought this dress looked cute on the model but it looks so frumpy on me.  I also ordered it in size 4 and maybe it's too large.  But I'm not feeling it.  Plus it's made crappy, the wide dark gray contrast panel is not even sewn straight.  Totally not even worth the sale price of $52.

Sunday Funday!

Wow what a long week it's been!  I think it seemed extra long to me because I had to get to work super early all week so I was up at around 4:30 am everyday.  Got out of work at about 4-4:30 pm, and still had to work out, play tennis, go to happy hour, etc.  So by Friday night I was pretty exhausted!  I slept for 10 hours that night to catch up!  Then had a very physically exhausting weekend as well since I decided to go play golf then tennis in 100 degree weather yesterday and nearly killed myself at the gym today.  So it is now almost 4 pm on Sunday and I'm about ready to crash!  I feel so old!  Haha!

By the way, I wanted to share my very exciting nail polish find today.  I went to get my nails repainted, because I just wasn't feeling this glittery pink color that I had done last weekend for my party.  I wanted a more natural color and I am very happy that I got OPI's "Nomad's Dream".  The bottle actually looked a little orangey and I didn't like it, but my nail girl convinced me that it would look different once painted on.  It's kind of hard to describe this color and it looks a little different under different light reflections, but it is a pearly peachy/tan color that looks very natural and beautiful, and goes with pretty much anything in your closet.  I'm kind of obsessed with this color right now and am thinking I need to buy it myself.  Here's what it looks like under natural light:

Things like this make me really happy.  Now off onto the outfits of the week!

Monday 8/13
What I did:  Weight lifting - worked on chest.

Tuesday 8/14
What I did:  I was supposed to go to my tennis lesson, but it is at 8-9 pm which is kind of late for me since I had to wake up at 4:30 am.  So I skipped it and went to lift weights again - worked shoulders.

I also have a work outfit from the same day.  It was our business dress day, which is why I'm wearing this thick Calvin Klein suit jacket when it's been so hot out.  But I wore my new Shae Scoop Neck dress under so at least that was nice and cool.  It's such a pain to do business dress in this kind of heat wave we're having!

I thought this was funny - Whiskey was bothering me as I was trying to take pictures of myself.  He wants to play, always, so I actually captured this one of him going under my dress!  Hehe.

Wednesday 8/15
What I did:  Went to play tennis with a friend.  We ended up playing for 2 hours!  And I played with both my right and left hands (I'm kind of ambidextrous).  So both my hands/arms got a little sore!

What I wore:  Lululemon Dance Strap tank in white, with Run:Ultra shorts in black/fruity tootie/silver manifesto.  Always wear my Adidas shoes when I play tennis too!

Thursday 8/16 - Rest day, so naturally I went to happy hour.  =)

Friday 8/17
What I did:  Went to the gym to lift again, and then went to this golf and tennis course close to my house.  It's a very cool place with a driving range, a 9 hole par 3 course, and like 20 tennis courts all next to each other!  Very convenient.

I also wore my Swiftly 1/2 Zip in ultra violet to put on in case it got colder when I was done at like 11 pm.  But it wasn't necessary at all.

My work outfit from the same day is also from our "business dress" day.  We have many of those when clients come to visit us.  But it is so hard to wear business clothes on a hot Friday!  So I did what I could by wearing this old Express botton down stripey shirt I had, rolled up the sleeves, and tucked it into my Tahari A.S.L Sara Skirt.  I actually took the belt off of my Costa Blanca Novara dress and wore it with this outfit.  And of course, my uber comfy Nine West black Ambitious pumps.

Saturday 8/18
What I did:  This was my 4 hour outdoor physical activity day.  I've been wanting to get back into golfing for a while now.  I used to be pretty big into it.  But stopped for a couple years when I got lazy.  So this is my effort at getting back strong!  I went back to the golf and tennis spot I went to on Friday night, and I started off by warming up at the driving range, then playing the 9 hole game.  Then, of course could not leave until I got in an hour of tennis.  I think my friends were really tired and hating me by the end of the day so we went to The Counter and had some yummy burgers and shakes.  =)

What I wore:  Since it was almost 100 degrees out, I opted for my white cool racerback and potion purple Energy Skirt.  And to somewhat match, I wore my 50 Rep bra in very violet.  I wore my NB shoes which were pretty good for golfing, and not bad for tennis.

I had to hold my phone with both hands since my hand was shaking and wouldn't hold still!  Symptom of playing too much tennis I think.  =/

I have decided that I need at least one other running skirt, preferrably in white, since I only have 2 and they are so great for tennis.  But I went to the Lulu store yesterday and tried on the white Pace Setter skirt - it was so long in the front and looked frumpy on me!  Oh well, guess I'll have to wait and keep looking.

Sunday 8/19
What I did:  I went to my interval training class that I used to go to all the time on weekends but have not been in a while.  I really wish I had more days in the week to do all the workouts I want to do!  But it is what it is.  I went back today and remembered how much I missed it!  It's such a good workouts to be able to sprints and do weight intervals with others there to push each other.  Though I was the slowest person in the group today!  I was sprinting at 11mph at the fastest, and others were doing at least 12, and some even 13-14.  Has it been that long since I've been training there...

What I wore:  Lululemon cool racerback in currant, paired with currant Energy Bra.  I figured there was no way for the current Energy Bra to ruin another top if it is the exact same color.  I wore my Hot Move short in coal/unicorn tears print on the bottom.  And of course since my Adidas shoes would match the top perfectly, I opted for my Nike Frees in blue glow.  I just can't do matchy matchy that well.  Although I'm really not crazy about the Nike Frees when I have other options.  My feet always fall out of the sides of them and it's not very comfortable.

And that's it for the week!  I'm glad I was able to get out there and be active 6 days of the week even with my busy work schedule.  I'm determined to make golf and tennis a regular thing from now on.  And of course weight lifting, interval training, and hopefully I can fit in yoga and boxing once in a while too!  Too much to do... too little time!

Tahari A.S.L. Multi Colorblock Belted Dress

My most recent dress came from Ruelala, the Tahari A.S.L. Multi Colorblock Belted Dress. Ruelala was selling it for $59 but I also saw it at Nordstrom marked down to $85 from $129. I would have loved to order it in size 4 but they were sold out so I had to settle for 6. It is a little bit, not too bad on top but the bottom is loose. But it is not as bad if I put my hands in the pocket. Otherwise the bottom bells out a bit too much.

I really like this dress though. I love the color combo on top of red and tan. And the belt is actually very cute and removable as well. It's a great style for work. I can also throw on a jackets or some kind of long sleeve over it if I need to. So I'm pretty happy with it. Just might need to get it taken in a little around the hips so I don't always have to put my hands in the pockets. I do love these pockets though! They are huge and I can put my phone and wallet in them and no one can even tell lol.

This dress is made of cotton and spandex and doesn't really wrinkle which is a plus if you are going to be wearing it while sitting at work all day. I think this high waisted style is flattering on most body types as well since it elongates your legs and slims the waistline. I need more dress this style!

Trina Turk 'Fuego' Sequined Halter Dress

I first saw this gorgeous Trina Turk 'Fuego' Sequined Halter Dress from Nordstrom and fell in love with it (I think it was from the bridal section, but whatevs), but they did not have my size.  So a little bit of googling led me to the same dress on 6pm.com for pretty much the same price - $129, no taxes, and free shipping.  So I bought it!  Shipping was super fast, I got it about 2 days later.

I don't know if I can pull of all over sequined dresses to many occasions, but for some reason it just looks a lot more subtle in white.  I would have ordered it in a size 4, but it was sold out, so I settled for size 6.  It's not bad actually, a little bit loose fitting which is the style anyway.  But I found it to be too long, so I actually took it to get hemmed about 2.5 inches shorter.  It costed me 45 bucks... wtf?!  Well, they had to alter 2 layers since there is an inner lining.  And the outer sequined layer has some kind of mesh taping on the inside of the hem, which I guess took some work.  So this dress ended up costing me $174, which is quite pricey for something I probably won't wear that often.  Oh well... I guess I decided to treat myself a little.  I do really like it though.

It actually pairs nicely with my Urban Behavior cropped tuxedo jacket.  I like the classy look - you really can't go wrong with black and white (and light pink shoes :)).

I almost wore it to my birthday party this past Saturday night, but my friends vetoed it in favor of my black Josh Brody dress.  They said that 1. black outfit would look better with red streaks in my hair, which I agree.  And 2. this dress is more of a summer casual dress comparatively - this point I didn't quite agree with.  It doesn't look all that casual to me, maybe other than the halter tie neck style, but it's got sequins all over! Oh well, majority rules, so I did not wear it.  I must find another occasion!

I thought it looked very cute on the model from Nordstrom, but not as good on the 6pm model.  But you can see from both stock photos the length on them.  Keep in mind the models are probably a few inches taller than my 5'5 frame!  I'm glad I got it hemmed shorter even though it almost costed my right arm - more fun!

A Few More Dresses!

I've been buying a lot of dresses lately, I think this is another one of those phases I'm going through!  I just find dresses to be so much easier than separates, since I don't have to worry about picking out two items to match.  I can focus on shoes and accessories, and that works well for lazy-ol-me.  I bought these two dresses from Hautelook for pretty decent prices, and I actually really like both of them.

So first, I bought this "Wow Couture Cap Sleeve Multicolor Bodycon Dress", hoe yes still modeling everything with my new favorite wedges from Modern Vintage!

I've been intrigued by these wrap dresses that I keep seeing so I finally decided to get one myself.  I really like the colors in this dress, and I like that it's got sleeves up top.  I like the purple tones as well, which actually has subtle shine to it.  I ordered it in a size S, and I'm glad it didn't come too tight.  The material is quite thick, so it does hide lumps and bumps well and gives you an hourglass figure.  I'm pretty happy with the way it fits!  It was only $29 too, totally worth it.

Here are the model shots:

The next dress I got is this Shae Scoop Neck Tonal Dress, in a nude color.

This one originally retailed for $106 but Hautelook was selling it for only $25 (the catch is: no return).  I went ahead and ordered a size small, and basically was taking a gamble on it but I figured it couldn't be that bad.  It turns out that it's actually pretty loose fitting, but I like it.  It's made of very light knit material, feels like a thin sweater dress almost.  It is a bit see-through, and I only have a black slip that I can wear under it, which kind of works.  But I think a nude slip is a requirement to go with it.  I can totally wear this dress to work as well, maybe with a blazer over.

Here are the shots of the model in it:

The last thing I got is actually a shirt, not a dress.  It is called Sweet Romeo V-Neck Dolman Sleeve Hi-Lo Top.  I like these loose fitting flowy types of shirts.  I like how they styled the model with white shorts, so I did the same!

This shirt was only $22 as well.  It is soft and comfy.  Will be a very easy thing to throw on!  So I am pretty happy with my latest purchases.  =)

Sunday Funday!

Ok, I must confess that today is actually not fun at all for me.  I had a crazy alcohol-induced weekend with friends in town starting Friday night.  Then my birthday / end of CFA celebration party last night turned into a blast from the past (reminiscent of college days) where people kept making me take shots. I think I succeeded at sufficiently destroying my brain cells, and marking an end to my victory.  =)  But of course today I am paying the debt.  I am going to start detoxing tomorrow, since obviously destroying my body like that is no good.

I liked my hair last night though.  I bought these bright red streak clip-ins and they look great with dark hair and black dress!  I am actually quite happy with the result.  I bought them from proextensions.com for like $25 for 6 pieces, all 100% human hair too, not synthetic.  But I actually got 2 sets because I have lots of hair.  It was a good amount.

Anyways, so my weekend was pretty much shot as far as working out goes.  That is another negative side effect of not feeling well from the night before.  Your next day is really just wasted.  I kind of had the foresight though, so I worked out 4 times during the week.

Monday 8/6
What I did:  Weight lifting - I worked on legs since my arms were really really sore.

What I wore:  Lululemon cool racerback in bubbulicious, and pow pink Free to Be bra under.  It didn't bleed on my tank, but then again I was not very sweaty.  I wore my black slub denim astro wunder unders, and my New Balance Minimus Road shoes.

Tuesday 8/7
What I did:  Played tennis

What I wore:  Lululemon No Limit tank in flash, and Run Fast shorts.  It's been super hot here lately, approaching 100 degrees everyday.  I wore my Adidas adizero adios 2 shoes, of course.

Wednesday 8/8
What I did:  Weight lifting - I worked on arms.  Then I ran 5 sprint intervals at the end.

What I wore:  Lululemon Power Y tank in Three Print, with black Ebb & Flow crops and my Adidas shoes again.

Thursday 8/9
What I did:  Weight lifting and this time worked on my back, then 5 sprints at the end again.

That concludes my workouts for this week.  I did also take a picture of my Friday night's outfit when I went out for dinner and drinks.  So here it is - my favorite combo now - shorts with wedges and a looser fitting tank top.  =)

Here's a picture from that night of me and my good friend Brad who I've known for ages... isn't he so cute??  Lol.

Ok, now I am going to go have some Yogurtland for dinner and continue my unhealthy streak until tomorrow.  =)
