Sunday Funday!

This was my first full week of being on my new training and eating plan.  I am eating more than before, at around 1600 calories a day.  But I am eating way more carb than I used to.  I think my carb intake is like 150g a day now, rather than under 100g that I was doing before.  In the beginning, I was afraid that I'd blow up like a fish, and that kind of happened on the first day or two.  But I kept doing what I was supposed to do, and by day 3 all the bloat started coming off!  On the scale I actually weigh about the same, but everyone has been telling me that I look like I've lost weight.  I know a week is still very early to tell, but so far I feel great and I love it!  I also really love my weight training program.  I am doing 4 days of training a week - 2 days of upper and 2 days of lower.  I also do 3 days of 30 minute MISS (moderate intensity steady state) as cardio.  I don't think I mentioned this last time, but I actually went with an online trainer, who is based out of San Diego.  One of my friends has been training with him for a few months, and has liked it so far so she recommended him to me.  I love this idea of an online trainer, because I want to workout on my own - I have no problems motivating myself.  I know most exercises so I don't really need anyone to coach me on form.  It's really nice to have a program on hand that I can just go do and not have to think about what exercises to work on.  And of course, it's much cheaper than having a personal trainer following me around all the time.  At Equinox they charge over $100 an hour for personal training, and you don't even know what kind of trainer you get.  They most definitely would not give you nutrition advice, let alone a whole plan for you to follow.  So I am pretty happy with this online thing.  I check in with him every 2 weeks, and if I have any urgent questions I just email him.  I really like that he gave me a very do-able meal plan (not like I have to pre-make 5 chicken breasts a day and take to work), and he doesn't make me take weird pills.  I am just taking some vitamins and other supplements, digestive enzymes and probiotics which I've been thinking of taking anyways.

I started last Sunday, so by Sunday afternoon and all day Monday, I felt pretty bloaty.  When I weighed myself on Monday morning, I was up 3-4 pounds!  Kind of scary.  But after that, I weighed myself every morning and I lost a pound a day ending back at where I was before by the end of the week.  But I'm eating way more!  Cool!!

Monday 5/6
What I did:  Upper body workout, followed by 30 min of MISS, which I walked on the treadmill at like 3.5 mph and 15% incline.

What I wore:  Not sure if you can see how bloated I was here, but I wore my Lululemon Power Y tank in three print, and Lululemon Lab Perennial Tight, with Brooks Pure Drift shoes.

As to and from, I wore my senorita pink Energy pullover!

Tuesday 5/7
What I did:  It was my day off from weights, so I just did a MISS.

What I wore:  Lululemon Practice Freely tank in mellow lemon/burning yellow and Zobha Racer Capri in perfect purple, and Skora Phase shoes.  Ok, what's up with this tank?  I have had it for a while, but only wore it once or so.  The bottom band is so wide that it kept falling down my butt!  Very annoying.  I also avoid this tank because every time I go to the gym, someone else is wearing it lol.

Wednesday 5/8
What I did:  I went to my pilates studio and took a class there.  It was crazy hard!  I love pilates.  I'm glad my trainer still lets me to pilates/yoga, just don't do too much cardio he says.

What I wore:  Lululemon cool racerback in currant, with laceoflage Free To Be bra under it, and Power Vinyasa crop.  Oh and of course my Zigi Kickin wedge sneakers that I wear all the time now... LOL!

As to and from, I wore my fresh teal/very green LS swiftly top with concord grape Dance Studio pants.  I love green and purple paired together!

Oh yeah, I had a red thing going on on Wednesday!  As a work outfit, I wore the Calvin Klein shiny striped roll-up sleeve blouse with Express red pencil skirt.  I added this skinny belt to it even though the skirt has no belt loops.  I think belts just make every outfit look better!  I wore these awesome newspaper print shoes that have black, white and red on them!

Thursday 5/9
What I did:  Lower body weight workout.  Then I did the gauntlet for 30 minutes.

What I wore:  Lululemon swiftly racerback in very green (love this one so much!) with faded zap Free To Be bra under which is quickly becoming my favorite bra/color to wear.  And Team Spirit crop in coal/chirp, and Adidas adizero adios 2 shoes.

This tank seriously makes me smile every time I see it in my drawer.  I love this color!  And so glad I sized up to have the looser fit and longer length.

I put on the white swiftly LS top over as to and from.  I seriously think this is one top that everyone should have.

Friday 5/10
What I did:  Upper body weight training.

What I wore:  Lululemon swiftly racerback in pink mist with new Lorna Jane Devoted 7/8 tight, and Brooks Pure Drift shoes.

So I wore my frutie tootie swiftly LS as to and from, because the color matches the back of the tights!  I didn't wear it like that with the word showing though.  But it's still kind of fun knowing that it matches!

I also have a fun going out outfit from Friday night.  I went to a cool bar/restaurant in West Hollywood, and didn't want to get too dressed up for it.  So I wore my $10 Express foiled drape front tee in an off-white fabric with subtle sheen, and Express diagonal striped knit mini skirt that I got for only $9 and love.  And I wore these cool Adrienne Vittadini diamond fishnet tights that I got from Hautelook for $7.  So the whole outfit costs $26... lol.

Saturday 5/11 - I took the day off as my only rest day!  Needed it too.  Slept till like 11:30!!

Sunday 5/12
What I did:  Lower body weights again, I worked so hard today!

What I wore:  New Lorna Jane Inspire Excel tank, with the Pammy Bra under, which I absolutely loved!  Maybe Lorna Jane does make better sports bras than Lululemon.  For the bottom, I wore Lululemon Run A Marathon crop and Adidas shoes.  I love these shoes for weight lifting because they are supportive and stable!

I actually think the bra looks pretty good with this tank too:

Check out the side by side photo of the shirt wore over the Lululemon Run Sprint bra from yesterday's post on the left, and Lorna Jane's Pammy bra on the right.  Not sure if you can see very well, but Lulu bra definitely smashes your chest down whereas LJ bra lifts the girls up!  The thick cups are great.  I'm sure Lulu bra would look similar though if I put the LJ cups in them.  I'll have to try that some time.

This's it for tonight ladies!  I am off to bed, and then getting ready for a whole new week of working hard and eating clean!

  1. Loving all the new outfits and the info on the trainer. Strange how you bloated up and then lost it at the end of the week!
What's your opinion on subbing a veggie juice for a meal?
I've been doing that for the last month and cut back on Crossfit and I'm down 5 lbs-so weird?!

    1. Well I eat 5 meals a day (2 snacks in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner) and one of my snacks is a green smoothie. But I add protein powder to it. I think it's a great way to get your daily veggie intake and much easier than eating them! But if you eat 3 meals a day, I wouldn't substitute a meal with it because there isn't enough calories. It can just be a side or a "dessert"?

  2. Thanks for sharing! What's your trainer's name? I'm skinny fat, and need to tone up! I have been doing fitness dvds because all the exercise classes I've taken recently haven't been fun or challenging. Do you send yor weight measurements to him, and chat online about the meal/exercise plan?

    1. Hi there, I do send pictures and record my weight fluctuations. He gives me a full on meal plan and workout routine and I'm supposed to follow it exactly. His focus is bikini competition though, and I hear there's a wait list or he's very picky about who to take on. I think he took me only because my friend is his client lol. Otherwise he only trains competitors. If you email me I will give you more info!
