Sunday Funday!

I am very happy right now because I've had a pretty good week, and I'm about to go on vacation for the next week!  I'm going to New Orleans to visit for like 5 days.  I actually know very little about this city!  But that's why I'm going.  =)  I had been there once, when I was like 13.  Needless to say, I don't remember much about it.  I hear very good things from friends who have been though.  I can't wait to check out all the Cajun food!  If any of you have recommendations of what I should do and where I should visit while I'm there, I'd really appreciate it if you would let me know!  Otherwise my plan is to just show up and find out... lol!  Thank god for Yelp.  I'll be staying at the French Quarter, which is probably very touristy but I figured would be a good bet.  I'm excited!

Other exciting news... my bf works for a fancy company with a lot of money and connections, so they had some special guests at their holiday party this week - Sublime and Bastille!  It's pretty crazy though, because they flew Bastille from London to LA for just that night - they had to fly back the same night after the party because they were scheduled to perform in Austria a day later.  I can't imagine how much they paid Bastille to do that, but I'm guessing probably 7 figures!  I thought Sublime was way better though lol.  I love Sublime so maybe I'm biased.  Well, I'm sure they got paid a lot too.

I took a couple videos!  I actually combined 4 songs together in this video below, 2 from Sublime and 2 from Bastille.  Too bad I didn't remember till the 4th song that I was supposed to film horizontally so that the video would come out larger.. oops!  Sorry!  But I think you'll recognize these 4 songs.  =)

It was a really fun night!  I also got to wear my Vera Wang dress for the first time since I got it 2 years ago lol.  That Vera is such a mean seamstress.  There's a corset in this dress, and it is very tight on me even though it's a size 6.  It's a feat trying to zip the side up while wearing it.  At some point during the party I thought I was going to suffocate.  But it's cute and makes your waist look tiny... we all suffer for beauty... lol!

I wore it with Vince Camuto Jiris sandals, and carried my Rebecca Minkoff Leo bag.

I love the details of this dress with the asymmetrical shoulder design, and the silk wrapping all over.  The length and the bling bling waist tie it comes with is perfect for a holiday party.

I wore my new Vince Scuba Leather jacket in mallard there, since it got colder in LA!

That was a great night!  It blew my own company's holiday party out the water lol.  Mine was actually on Friday night and I didn't even go.  It's been at the same place the past 4 or 5 years - Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, WP24, at the Ritz Carlton.  I guess it was sort of exciting last year when Wolfgang Puck himself showed up to it.  The restaurant is beautiful though.  I'm just kind of over it after so many years of going to the same place.  Besides, I had Friday off work so I didn't feel like driving to downtown just for the party.  It's also lame that it's Friday right after work, so everybody goes in their work clothes.  And then people's dates show up who are all dressed up in sparkly dresses, making you seem less adequate... I hate that!  =P

Anyway, so despite numerous events I had throughout the week, and almost getting sick midway through, I managed to get my weight back under control.  I am happy about that since I was super annoyed last week that it was taking so long to undo the Thanksgiving week damage.  Maybe I'm just older now so my metabolism slowed down, but it's seriously getting harder and harder.  Oh well... such is life.

Monday 12/8
What I did:  I did my strength workout 1 from month 2 of Get Glutes program.  I think this program is really working for my glutes so far lol.  It's definitely noticeably bigger than before.

What I wore:  Lululemon cool racerback in wish blue, with white Free To Be bra under.  Lululemon Empower crop in coal/passion, and Nike Free 5.0 TR Fit 4 shoes in hyper cobalt/bright mango.

Alo Raglan mesh hoodie as to and from - love this thing:

Tuesday 12/9
What I did:  I ran a little and then did my first conditioning workout of the week.

Wednesday 12/10 - I started getting kind of sick, with the most sore and uncomfortable throat as the symptom.  I was planning on going to the gym, but I really didn't want to take a chance and get really sick right before my bf's holiday party and New Orleans.  So I rested.

Thursday 12/11 - Thought maybe I'd get better, but woke up with even worse throat!  I rinsed with salt religiously and drank lots of lemon water.  I think that's how I beat it.

Friday 12/12
What I did:  My throat situation got a lot better, and I didn't really have any other symptoms other than a little sniffly, so I went to the gym.  I did my 2nd strength training, followed by 30 minutes of cardio.  I hadn't done moderate intensity cardio since I started the new training program!  But I felt like I needed it.

What I wore:  Lululemon cool racerback in savasana camo fatigue green, with Victoria's Secret Angel Sport bra under.  Lorna Jane Mosaic tight, and Nike Free 5.0 TR Fit 4 shoes in hyper cobalt/bright mango.

Lululemon Karmacollected jacket as to and from - this jacket is so comfy!

Saturday 12/13
What I did:  Strength workout #3, then conditioning workout as well.

Sunday 12/14 - Rest day.  I'm still sniffly and sneezy a little.  Hope this goes away soon!  So annoying!  I went to brunch today.  Wore my blue Vince Scuba leather jacket again!  I seriously love this color.  White Joe's Jeans in honey skinny style, and Michael Kors Fleur boot.  Oh and Kate Spade Cobble Hill canvas crossbody that I wear all the time now.  It's the perfect size and surprisingly goes with a lot.

That's all for this week!  I am going to get packing soon.  Good thing New Orleans weather is pretty much just like LA so I don't have to think too hard about what kind of layering I need.  But kind of sad that I can't wear my winter coats lol.  Hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. I love New Orleans, one of my favorite places! I would rarely go back to a vacation destination (too many places in this word to see!) but I would go back to NOLA. You will find great food in many places, but one restaurant I vividly remember over 2 years later is Arnaud's. It's in a historical building (even once a brothel) and both the food and service were incredible.

We were there for a work-related trip, and one of the other couples decided to do the city tour the first day, so they knew what sights they would like to go back to see. It's a great idea and I highly recommend the approach as well. We weren't able to do the city tour until our final day, which was still very well worth it. Have a wonderful time!

    1. Thanks Megan! I'll check out the restaurant! I was also thinking of doing some kind of day tour as an introduction to the city. Thanks for the tip!
