Sunday Funday!

It's Sunday night again!  This week went by super fast, probably because I was so busy at work!  I have to confess to something nerdy... some time last year, I was approached by the CFA LA society to be the chair of one of their new community of interest committees.  It's basically a bunch of finance people hanging out.  Either listening to talks given by some notable person, or social events where you can network.  Being the chair, I would basically be responsible for figuring out what kind of event I want to put on once a quarter, and they make it happen.  So 1. It would look good to write on my resume should I start looking for a new job, 2. It's a good way to make some connections in high places, and 3. It doesn't really require any real work on my part.  Now, I have no idea why they thought I would be a good person to lead it, but I said sure why not.  So Tuesday this week was my group's first event!  It was a lunch during which a speaker gave a talk on Emerging Market debt.  It actually had a better than expected turnout, so I call that a success!  Hehe.  I realized that it was indeed a good way to make contacts because I met some nice people!  So that actually makes me kind of happy to plan the next event, which will most likely be a happy hour or another type of social event.

Anyway, on a different note, my boxing class intensity was kicked up like 10 notches this week!  I took the class on Thursday night and my back and arms were actually quite sore for a couple days after!  I even skipped my upper body superset workout on Saturday because of it.  Although I wasn't nearly as sore as I used to get when I took long breaks from boxing before.  So I take that as a confirmation that I am in better shape now.  Woohoo!

I think there really is something to letting your body rest.  I'm not very good at that, because I tend to always want to push on.  So I probably don't take as much rest as I should.  I had to force myself to stay home on Saturday, and fight those little voices that say: maybe you should at least take a spin class or something?!  But too much cardio is not good for muscle building, and I had already reached my 4 cardio sessions per week limit.  So I literally forced myself to stay put and just relax!  It was... pretty boring!  I took 2 naps.  =P

Alright, let's get on with this!  I actually have my dinner outfit from last Sunday night as my first outfit of this post.  I wasn't going to post it, but then I thought... why not!  It was the first time I had worn the Karma Rosa dress.  I was going to sell it, but I forgot and so it had been hanging in my closet with the tag on this whole time.  I decided to just take it off and wear it.  Because it's a pretty nice fitting dress!  It's made of yoga clothes material so it's quite comfy too.  I wore it with my Modern Vintage wedge sandals:

I love the back of this dress where you see a sliver of the skin, but the design still perfectly hides your bra!

But of course I worn my Vince Paper Leather Scuba jacket over it, and carried my Balanciaga City bag, because I don't leave the house without these 2 items now.  =)

Monday 4/7 - Rest day from the gym.  So here's my work outfit:  This is a very old wrap dress from Express that I got on sale for $19.  I still loooove it!  New shoes I just posted about - Sam Edelman Novato Slingbacks.

Splits59 Ion wrap over the dress:

Tuesday 4/8
What I did:  Legs, followed by 30 minutes of the gauntlet.  I started doing my intervals on the gauntlet instead of the treadmill because all the treadmills at my gym only go up to 15% incline... which is just not high enough.

Wednesday 4/9
What I did:  Shoulder/tri workout, followed by gauntlet session again.  This one gets me so sweaty!

White Swiftly LS as to and from:

Here's my work outfit from the same day - I wore the Tahari ASL Sleeveless Ponte dress, and Coach Nala patent pumps:

Thursday 4/10
What I did:  Back/bi and then 30 minutes of gauntlet again.

What I wore:  Lorna Jane Arianna tank in jewel, Lorna Jane Lustre sport bra under it in sparkle fluro orange.  Lululemon Run For Fun crop in paisley embossed, and Nike Free 3.0s in gray/crimson.

Work outfit:  Express Metallic Pointelle Knit Layering Tee and Express Welt Pocket pencil skirt in firecracker.  Sam Edelman Novato Slingbacks again!

After work, I went to boxing class!  Yep, long day!

Friday 4/11
What I did:  I was totally thinking that I would not be able to get up so early for the gym after doing two workouts both in am and pm the day before.  But somehow I felt pretty good so I got up and got my butt to the gym to do my leg workout!  I was done with cardio for the week though, so just legs!

What I wore:  Lorna Jane Danni sleeveless hoodie with Lorna Jane Dual Support bra under.  Splits59 Ginger crop in marianna blue, and black Nike Free Bionics.  Man... I didn't realize I was going to be so hot wearing the vest to do legs!  I think the hood makes me really hot, I'm not sure.  The vest is made of mesh all over, and I only had a bra under, so I didn't think I was going to get too hot!

This bra makes it look like I'm actually wearing a shirt under the vest.. hehe!

Splits59 Venus Jacket as to and from:

Saturday 4/12 - Rest day

Sunday 4/13
What I did:  Played tennis for the first time in forever!

What I wore:  I thought it was going to be cold today, so instead of wearing a skirt or shorts like I usually do for tennis, I wore the Sweaty Betty Adrenaline Ombre capris.  Then I thought hey... let me match it perfectly with my Lululemon cool racerback in petit dot dune!  Lorna Jane Clover bra under it, and Wilson Court Pro tennis shoes.

See how the dots on the cool racerback match the dots on the crops!  Lol.

These crops are very pretty, but their quality is so shitty that it pisses me off.  I've probably only worn them 4 times so far and aside from being totally sheer, the pink stitching near the waistband have come off in a big way.  It's ridiculous.  They were not cheap!  I will never buy another item from Sweaty Betty based on how disappointing these crops have been.

I went to Din Tai Fung at the Americana in Glendale for yummy juicy Chinese dumplings afterwards!  Every time I go there I can't believe people are willing to wait in line for so long.  But it does satisfy a certain craving!  We got there at an off time though, so only waited 30 minutes.  I even ordered a lychee smoothie to go with my dinner.  So good!  I think I really just workout a lot so I can eat good food.  =D

  1. I appreciate your truthful review on sweaty Betty.....so I have to say this.... I bought the splitz 59 raquel tights in black after your review of the white, paint speckled ones they sent you...and I do like them a lot. I wanted a top to go with them, and I liked the Devon 3/4 sleeve top. I know you have the Devon tank which is the exact same material/style of the top I ordered (minus the 3/4 sleeve). So anyway, I received my order and was completely shocked at the cheap quality/material of the top. It was ridiculous. It was a shiny, cheap material that was tight in the arms, big in the torso price of crap that wasn't worth $10, let alone the $74 price tag that I paid for it. It was so bad that I wanted to send the raquel tights back too (even though I liked them). I felt like if they were ok with putting a $74 price tag on a cheap piece of crap, I don't want to spend any amount on their brand.

    1. Aww that sucks! I had a similar experience when I got one of their tencel tanks a while back and thought it felt ridiculously cheap and sent it back. I don't have the Devon shirt that you got, but my Devon tanks are pretty nice. The material is silky and cool to the touch but it's not polyestery or shiny at all. I also have many other tops from Splits and I've been very happy with them. The French terry pullovers are super cozy! Sometimes I do feel their prices are very high for tops, but then again they are all made in the US vs overseas. When they have their sales, you can get some really great deals. Anyways, I say don't let one bad experience ruin it. You are not going to always be happy with everything a particular brand makes, so just enjoy what you do like! =)

    2. I've been looking for comfy yet stylish dresses for a while now, and that Karma dress looks perfect! I've already managed to track down an online store that's selling it for $40... but I'm not sure what size to get, so I was hoping you could help me out. I wear the same size bottoms as you, but I'm a little bustier (I wear size 8 lulu bras, for example). Do you think there's room in the XS for a little extra boob?

    3. Well I was wearing my Victoria's Secret "add 2 cup sizes" push up bra lol. It still fit so I think you'll be fine. The dress is pretty tight fitting though, so I think even if you were to size up to a S it still wouldn't be too baggy. It's an awesome dress! Super cute/comfy. Glad you were able to find it for such a good price!
