I had been kind of eyeing the Bandha Crop in soot light/ groovy stripe nimbus since they came out a few weeks ago, but wanted to try them on in store. When I was at a different store location last week, they were out of this color way in my size 4. I tried on a size 2, but it was too shiny in the legs which I think is a sign that the material is being stretched too much. Although the waist fit just fine in size 2. So yesterday when I saw a lone pair of size 4 left in these, I tried them on. Much better! The waist still isn't loose or anything, and they no longer look shiny in the legs. I was also very surprised by the fact that they are not sheer AT ALL! I find that most Lululemon bottoms of late are kind of like 90% not sheer, so I expected these to be somewhat sheer, especially in a non-black color. But they are completely opaque.
The fit is superb too! The waistband is nice and wide - wider than wunder unders for sure. I think it looks a little deceiving since the waistband has the groovy stripe nimbus print on the top half and solid soot light on the bottom half. So optically it looks like a thin waistband if you don't look closely. The waistband seriously holds you in in all the right places and looks super flattering.
They are also made of 2 types of luxtremes - the front panel is regular power luxtreme, and the back is something called Interlock power luxtreme. I don't remember hearing or seeing anything in this interlock power luxtreme before, so it may be a new material. If so, I like it a lot! It feels slightly thicker than regular luxtreme, and has a more cottony look and feel (not as shiny). I actually thought it was luon at first, until I read the description. I'm sure this is why these crops are completely opaque, having interlock power luxtreme on the back, as opposed to other power luxtreme bottoms that are the same all the way around.
Anyways, here's the outfit on me, I like these two paired together.
And here are some more shots of the crops on me:
Cute keyhole detail on the side of the legs:
The only thing I am not crazy about in the pair that I got is that the bottom trim of the legs got 2 completely different pieces of groovy stripe nimbus. It looks like one leg has a lot more white than the other side:
i have not tried on myself, but i've heard that the new "non-sheer" bottoms are opaque but at the cost of thicker material. to be honest, i don't get the whole sheer-gate issue. i typically wear a g-string or sport thong (or go commando if i'm not working out that day) and NEVER had a problem (trust me, i've bent over and asked every friend if i'm showing too much). it's almost a 100 degrees in New York this week and the last thing i want is thicker fabrics! bring the old stuff back, i don't think lululemon handled the whole situation correctly (and i think their ceo lost her job as a result too!)... there will always be some degree of sheerness, if you're worried about it that much, then wear grey sweatpants please!
ReplyDeleteI also wear mostly thongs/g-strings etc. and don't have sheerness issues. But certain luxtreme bottoms are pretty thin and the color of my skin will show through if I'm bending over. It's not like you can see butt crack or anything, but I would definitely prefer better coverage. I think this interlock luxtreme is very nice - it's not thick at all, and provides great coverage.
Deletesorry, one more thing to add... love your blog, and you have an amazing body! so jealous, but i come back every day b/c you inspire me not to cheat (on my diet at least...) LOL
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks!! :D
Deletelast thing before i head out to the gym(!), what brand of undies do you recommend... doesn't seem like visible panty lines seem to be a problem for you!
ReplyDeleteI actually really like Victoria's Secret underwear, and find their cotton v-strings from the Pink line to be really really comfortable. I also like their sport line too. I pretty much wear VS exclusively.
DeleteDidn't notice the difference before you mentioned it. I bought the black color online and found them to be a little bit see-through on the side panels but the front and back panels are ok
ReplyDeleteHmm I didn't notice the side panel being see-through. But that's fine, as long as the front and back are covered! I was thinking that maybe I was the only one noticing that and majority of people would not even see it. But once I noticed it, it started bugging me more and more lol.
