Sunday Funday!

So this short work week felt like the longest week ever.  I had to be at work an hour earlier than usual everyday, so I only had about 45 minutes for my workouts before I had to start showering and getting out of the gym.  45 minutes is pretty much just about enough time for me to complete my weight sessions.  But normally I would do 30 minutes of cardio afterwards on most days.  I actually was doing 4 days of cardio but my coach just dropped it down to 3 days.  Since we shifted gear about 2 months ago to eating more and trying to add muscle, I should have seen a bigger weight gain.  But I'm not seeing any, so he thinks I should drop a day of cardio at this point rather than adding more food.  I agree, because I have been eating more food than I feel hungry for lol.  I guess I shouldn't complain that I'm eating more food and not gaining weight!  But, the objective is to build those damn muscles!!  They are super hard for me to gain - I seriously think I have muscle-resistant genes.  I'm waging war against those stupid genes though, because I'm just really stubborn lol!  Well, either that or I'm really stupid!  What else am I going to do with my life anyways?  Most of my time is spent sitting at my desk at work, if I stop all of this extra curricular workout activities, I'd just be miserable and wasting away.  Sad but true.

Monday 5/26
What I did:  I had some appointments in the morning and really didn't feel like going to the gym afterwards on Memorial Day!  But I did anyways because I have OCD.  And also I wanted to wear my new pants.  =)  I did my lower body workout, followed by my 30 minutes of cardio!

What I wore:  Lululemon swiftly racerback in paisley angel wing, with Lorna Jane Lustre bra in sparkle fluro orange.  Splits59 Nova Capri tights in red!  Nike Free 3.0s in gray/crimson.  I know, this was a lot of orange!  Hehe.

So I thought the sparkle orange bra would go really well with the metallic orange mesh on the leggings - but the damn bra bled onto my tank!!  Ugh.  This was the first time anything from Lorna Jane bled on me.  I had worn and washed this bra already so that was rather unexpected.  I only started soaking the tank in Oxyclean today - hope it comes out.  :(

Tuesday 5/27
What I did:  I did my tricep and shoulder weight session.

What I wore:  Lululemon No Limit tank in flash with Rogiani 3/4 Sport Band leggings in gray, and Nike Free Bionics in purple.

I love these shoes - they are super comfy and I get compliments on them all the time!

Wednesday 5/28
What I did:  It was my glute/back/bi day, which I think is the toughest day of the week!

What I wore:  New Splits59 Ashby tank in navy (even though photo makes it look black), with Lululemon Wunder Under crops in milky way, and Nike Free Bionics.

Thursday 5/29 - Rest day!

Friday 5/30
What I did:  Lower body again.

What I wore:  Lorna Jane Adrianna tank in jewel, with Lorna Jane Portia bra under it.  Lululemon Pace Crop in fun baseball print (this is what they will forever be known as lol), and purple Nike Free Bionics.

Saturday 5/31
What I did:  Upper body supersets, followed by 45 minutes of cardio.  Since it was only my second cardio session of the week, I decided to lengthen it a bit.

What I wore:  My exciting find - the new Lululemon Waterbound Singlet in aquamarine perfectly matches my old Splits59 Joan B 3/4 tight!  I get so happy when I find random things like this lol!  Love it!  So I couldn't resist wearing them together.  I feel like even though the color scheme was super matchy-matchy, the brands are totally different so nobody could accuse me of trying to hard!  Hehehe.  I kept it simple by wearing a white Free To Be bra under the tank, and printed Nike Free 3.0s.

By the way, the swim material of this tank dries amazingly fast!  I was pretty soaked from my 45 minutes of cardio and the tank dried within like 5 minutes afterwards!  Very airy and lightweight - love it!!!

Last night happened to be date night!  So I got to wear my new H&M lace skirt!  I wanted to keep it simple, so I wore this old Express drape neck burnout tee in dark teal on top.  The burnout is actually a snake print!  But it's very subtle so whatev.  Snake + lace is kind of unexpected.  I wanted to keep it neutral down below, so I wore the Sam Edelman Novato slingbacks.

I used my Rebecca Minkoff Leo crossbody bag for the first time too and loved it!  I think it's so pretty and the colorful print definitely pops!

Sunday 6/1
What I did:  Well it was supposed to be rest day, but I was also supposed to catch up on cardio sessions.  I didn't really feel like going to spin class like I had originally wanted to.  So I took a yoga class instead.  I did sweat in yoga lol.

After I put on my Beyond Yoga leggings, I realized how well low-rise leggings can work.  These just have the most perfect fit.  The rise is lower than all my Lululemon leggings, but they don't cut in on the sides or slide down at all.  Just super comfortable and flattering!  Lululemon should take note when they try to make low rise pants - the newest Run A Marathon II crop is a total fail.

After yoga, I went to return said crops to Lululemon.  I put on something casual to do my shopping in - this old button down shirt I got from Greece (?) when I went there a couple years ago, with Express reversible denim skirt (the other side is camo!), and Madden Girl Coasterr wedges that I surprisingly like a lot - pretty comfortable for walking all day too!

I also broke my teapot yesterday, so I went to the newest Teavana store in Beverly Hills to look for a new one.  That location has been open for about 2 weeks, and it's a "tea bar" store that Starbucks is starting to open up!  If you didn't know, Starbucks bought Teavana in 2012.  This place was like a Starbucks for tea based drinks.  Like hot and iced teas, tea lattes, tea cocktails (not alcoholic), etc.  They also had little sandwiches and snacks to go along with tea.  I thought it was pretty cute, since I love tea!  So even though I didn't find a teapot I liked, I got some yummy drinks.  If you are interested in how the place looks, here's an article with pictures.  They take Starbucks reward cards too!  This totally works for me.  I hope they open more locations.

  1. Two questions!

    1. How do you like your Rogiani crops? They are on my bucket list to try....but I'm trying to prioritize!
    2. What do you do for cardio these days? Do you do more fitness-type classes or still doing the whole incline treadmill/stepmill thing?

I'm starting to do more bodybuilding training....I have my lift days, but I need to figure out my cardio. I have a really high natural metabolism, so routine running does not do my body any good! I would lose all of my hard worked muscle growth almost instantly.

    1. I think Rogiani crops have very nice material. It's similar to Lululemon's luon but less "fuzzy" if you know what I mean. They are also a little more compressive. But they are low rise so I wouldn't run in them. For weights, they are perfectly fine and very comfortable. A lot of yoga/pilates people like them as well. Between all my leggings, I actually reach out for my black Rogiani ones the most when I'm running errands and just need to put on something quick. Since the rise is lower, they are a little sexier and less granny lol. I have 4 pairs though and could use less. Want red ones? They are size S. I've never worn them. :)

I think my coach would say don't do any cardio if you already have high metabolism. I have ditched the treadmill, so only the stepmill now. But I am still doing moderate intensity intervals. I think maybe try not doing any cardio for a while and see how your body reacts? I used to do low intensity cardio too - just 30 minutes of walking at a fast pace on high incline treadmill (heart rate between 140-150). So maybe that's another option. It's kind of boring but you can watch TV or read a book at the same time. But it sounds like you can get away with 0 cardio which would make a lot of people jealous!

  2. Heart rate at 140 to 150 beats per minute?!

    Thats low intensity?!?!

    1. Well... low intensity doesn't mean it should be super easy right? I don't start feeling it/sweating until my heart rate is at least 150 normally. I think 165ish is medium intensity, and 175+ is high intensity which can only be maintained for 30 seconds or so. I think a lot of self-professed "high intensity" cardio do-ers are only at moderate intensity. But of course it's different for everyone! This was the guideline my trainer gave me so I think it is the case for most people he trains. It certainly is for me.
