Beyond Yoga Cowl Drape Top

I've been wondering about the Beyond Yoga Cowl Drape top that had been in their sale section online for a while.  So over Memorial Day, they had an extra 20% off sale price and I decided to just get it.  I got it in "nutmeg stripe", which is a medium and a light espresso color mix.

They only have the back view shown in black stripe:

This top can be worn backwards - I always think it's a nice feature but really only wear them one way anyways:

So I got this top in size XS and it actually fits pretty loosely.  I would have liked to try the size down.  I didn't realize when I ordered it that sale items were final sale.  But I emailed them nicely anyway to see if they could make an exception (Splits59 lets you return or exchange if you are unhappy with their sale items even though they say final sale too), and they completely ignored my email!  It's been over a week so I don't think I'll ever get a response.  Whatever.  I decided after I emailed them that I was going to keep it anyways.  But it kind of ticks me off that they can't even bother replying to say "no".  So maybe I don't love them as much as I used to!  Sorry, but customer service is a big deal especially when we are paying this kind of prices.

But, I did decide that I don't really mind the looser fit, and that I could use a lightweight top like this a lot in LA.  I could even wear it to work.  So even though it feels very thin and almost like it shouldn't be worth the $53 sale price ($71 originally!), the versatility does add value to it.  And, it's pretty soft and comfortable, and I had an additional 20% off so I paid about $45 after tax.  Not a steal, but not that bad either.

Actually not too baggy looking from the side at all:

I do like the color too - I already knew I would, because I have their Gathered Legging in nutmeg and love them.

This is how it looks if I wore it reversed - this way feels way bigger since the back becomes so open:

I love open back shirts, but I think it would slide off my shoulders really easily if I wore it this way.  Too bad!  I almost like this version better.

Ohhhh well!  Next time I'll know what kind of service to expect...

  1. I had them ignore emails from me as well. They forgot an item in my order and I had to email them twice. They credited my account without even asking me if I'd rather have them ship the missing item to me. I would have rather had the tank than get the credit.

    1. Wow that sucks. That definitely would have turned me off too. This was my first interaction with their customer service - didn't know it was this bad!

  2. I was excited to try Beyond Yoga during the Memorial Day sale and was disappointed with their customer service as well. I ordered a really cute tank that was supposedly in stock, paid for my order, and received shipping confirmation. On the day my order was to be delivered I received an email notifying me the tank was no longer in stock and the item wouldn't be shipped... waaat? Even lulu informs me of items no longer in stock prior to shipping confirmation. I doubt I'll be shopping with them again.

    1. That is very weird! You'd think that they would have realized it before sending you a shipping notification. I know, as much bad rap as Lululemon gets, I've actually never had a negative experience with their customer service. I've also been able to return/exchange sale items to the stores when I haven't been happy with the items.

  3. It looks just like an iconic wrap on you! I hope they do eventually respond. If not, that is pretty rude...I don't like it when a company does that.

I just fell in love with BY with my last couple purchases. I'm waiting on my own customer service email and I will be really irked if I have to call them due to their lack of response. I have 150 rewards points....per their site, I should be able to use my points in "increments of 25" so got it...I can't opt to use like 70 of my points to cover a sweater. When I went to make a purchase of two crops, I can only use 25 points. This completely contradicts their policy on the website. Increments of 25 is not the same as only 25 per purchase. I'm going to let customer service take a look at it. I really love the company...seriously...a new favorite....but they will loose some "points" with me if they don't respond to my email in a reasonable time OR allow me to use more than 25 points per purchase. I don't want to jump to conclusions, so I'll wait on their response.

It looks great on you though.....just like Lululemon's Iconic wrap! I really like the fit. I don't think you would want this type of sweater too fitted...plus it looks great relaxed with really skinny jeans. Especially in the winter with boots...not that you have too harsh of winters in Cali. I think the XS is perfect! :)

    1. Well... from our experiences here, I don't think you'll have any luck getting a response... lol! I have no idea how the point system works. I only used it once and I only had enough for $25 off. But that's lame if they advertise one thing and practice another.

It does look like the iconic wrap! I think I've tried it on before but can't remember - is it tencel? I think something about the fit made me not want to buy it. Or maybe it was the price! Haha. Is that wrap also reversible?

I am not mad at this top at all, but as I'm wearing it today the shoulders kept sliding off which is somewhat bothersome. Oh well.

    2. I do love their Gathered Leggings lol. Fit, material, color, everything! Argh. I have loved them for a long time, but it's amazing how a little action (or inaction) can cause a big difference.

  4. Lorna Jane did that to me. They ignored emails about a return and emails about my account. I won't buy their things anymore.

I love beyond yoga's crops but haven't had any customer service interactions.

It surprises me how often companies do not put effort into their customer service.

    1. The one time I emailed Lorna Jane customer service, they actually wrote back to me within an hour and I was impressed. I agree though - consistency is the key. It's so stupid for companies to ignore customer service. A lot of loyalty can be built simply by putting in a little bit of effort. If their business model is to not give a shit, then I don't really want to give my money to them.

  5. You should send a link to this post from your blog to Beyond Yoga's customer service. They are lucky to have you promoting their site and should witness the repercussions of poor customer service. (My pet peeve)

  6. contrary to this experience, i've had a great experience with beyond yoga customer service! i bought the adapt & adore bra on final sale thinking it would look cute but it was a major side boob spill so i contacted them asking them if they could do an exchange on it for another bra style and they agreed to it very readily! part of me thinks they're just overwhelmed by the memorial day sale, you should definitely contact them again!

  7. I know Lulu has gotten slammed, but I've never had bad customer service from them (my store is great) and online educator allowed me to return my SS Swiftly I bought on WMTM back to a store. I sent a pic (email) of the top that pilled after just one wear before washing. She told me to take it to my local store and show them the email. I didn't even need to show them the email. They let me pick out another Swiftly (in a new color since the old one was not available), and basically let me have it for what I paid for the one I got on sale.

  8. Oh, and Lulu emailed me back in less than a half hour from when I sent my original email. She was awesome!

    1. Yeah, Lululemon can be pretty awesome sometimes. It's hit or miss, depending on who you get lol. Like I said I've never had a bad experience with them personally, but have heard many horror stories. Yikes!

  9. I've had a really bad experience with Beyond Yoga customer service. It took two emails and two phone calls to get refunded for a return. The emails were never returned. I called once and was promised I was getting refunded that day and never was and then called again and was finally refunded. It only took close to a month lol.

    1. Wow that would have made me so angry that I would never buy from them again! That sucks. =(

  10. So I finally heard back from Beyond Yoga....it took me reaching out to their Instagram account to finally get a prompt response.

    This is what I wrote:
    Hi,
I have a few things in my shopping bag but I'm a little confused about the rewards system. The FAQ says rewards may be used in increments of 25. In my interpretation, that means I can use 25, 50, 75, etc...points but not outside of increments of 25, like 30 points to pay for a shirt.
I have 150 points, so that means I should be able to use all 150 points on one order right? When I'm at my checkout it only let's me use 25 points. Did I have this all wrong? Is it only 25 points a purchase?

    Sent from my iPhone"
    This is the response:
    "Hi Carrie,
Completely understandable. I will certainly suggest a change in wording. To be clear, points can only be redeemed
in increments of 25, no more no less and must be 25 per order. Points may be redeemed on any order over $40.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
    Thank you,
    Becky"

Wow. I don't know how supportive I am of Beyond Yoga. They immediately marked my case as closed. I marked it as "dissatisfied" and wrote a rebuttal. They should honor all of the points customers have to how the CURRENT policy is written. YogaSmoga, to my understanding, allows you to use as many "YogaBucks" as you have. I am so annoyed I had to reach out to them via Instagram and then find out I cannot use their points to how their policy is currently written. Big. Fail.

    1. Yeah I don't know what to say about that. That's just terrible. I can't believe they didn't honor it for you when it's their mistake. Almost all companies would do that! That really sucks. Definitely makes you think twice before buying huh?
