Always a good sign when you can actually pronounce the ingredient names!
Ok this dressing tastes AMAZING! I was so shocked! It's creamy and tastes like it's got at least 150 calories per tablespoon! But with 22 calories per tablespoon, I can have 2 tablespoons and still not feel like a fat kid. The sesame seed taste mixed with miso is very different and unlike any miso dressing I've tried before at sushi restaurants or whatnot. Trust me, just have to try it to understand!
I went onto the Galeos site to do some research about the company, and found out that it started as Galeos Cafe in Newport Beach, California. The two chefs jointly came out with the recipe for the dressings, and pretty soon customers were ordering dressing to take home. I so can believe it! It's interesting though that the cafe was a European style cafe, but the dressings are all miso based, which I've always associated with Japanese or Asian cuisine. Apparently it's the dressing of choice on The Biggest Loser too.
I've tried it alone on salads, as well as a marinade for making fish or chicken, and it tastes so great no matter what! I can't even believe how excited I am about this product!
The store I went to only had the miso sesame flavor, but apparently it comes in miso dijionnaise, miso caesar, and miso ginger wasabi. I will have to hunt for the other flavors because I am very curious to try them out, especially the miso caesar. Or I may have to order them online.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I will probably be a Galeos fan for life! I just wish I had found it earlier so I could have saved myself from having to put up with the Wish-Bone crap for so long! Oh well, better late than never I guess!
Thanks so much for sharing! I am always looking for great low fat tasty ways to spritz up my boring spring mix I bring for lunch everyday. Quite frankly I am getting sick of usual olive oil & balsamic. I will definitely have to check this out. Did you go to a specialty market like Whole Foods or they sell this at like your local Ralphs etc? Love your blog and always look forward to reading your posts. Take care! :)
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Rit! I got it from Ralphs! I know exactly what you mean about the same old boring salad dressing. I hope you will like this one as much as I do. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks, will check it out tomorrow and let you know. I'm actually really excited hehe! :D
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting! Always looking for a good tasting (but not awful for you) salad dressing! I'll have to stop by Whole Foods near me sometime to see if they have it.
ReplyDeleteThe Caesar dressing is outstanding
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!! I just picked this up in the ceasar and miso. I've been looking for a new dressing - so bored with the spray stuff too!! I had no clue my whole food even had this.
ReplyDeleteMy Whole Foods only had Miso Caesar. I just bought 2 bottles! I am excited to try it!
ReplyDeleteOk you guys, now I have to go look for the Caesar miso at Whole Foods... hope it's as good, or better than, the sesame miso!!

ReplyDeleteSadness.
Ugh... thanks for the tip! But that is very very depressing. I can't believe the difference would be so drastic! Seriously... I'm sad that I may have to reconsider this dressing. I thought I found a gem. =(
