Sunday Funday!

What a busy weekend!  My birthday was yesterday, so I've been doing a lot of eating and drinking all weekend all over town lol.  I feel like these 2 days went by so fast!  Luckily I am half working from home for the next 3 days, so I get to relax a little.  Well, my mom and grandma are coming to visit me, so I guess it won't really be THAT relaxing.  I gotta clean up my place!

Because I am one of those annoying people in restaurants that take pictures of their food, these are some of the things I've had this weekend... note the middle pic where I had 2 desserts at once lol:

My bf even decorated our place with flowers when I got home from work on Friday!  Since I get to work from home for 3 days this week, I will actually be able to enjoy them.

So this weekend I literally went from Santa Monica to downtown LA to Laguna in Orange County.  It ain't easy to eat well... Hahaha!  Ok just kidding... sort've... so for my birthday dinner last night, I went to Bestia which is this restaurant in the middle of the industrial area in downtown.  It has only been open for maybe 2 years at the most, but I really think it is the hardest restaurant to get a reservation in all of LA!  Prior to last night, I had been looking up reservations there from time to time ever since they first opened, and never was able to find a good time.  Provided I didn't try that hard.  But I thought about going there for my birthday about a month ago, and one of my friends with connections (lol) hooked me up with a reservation at prime time on Saturday night!  Usually places that are super hyped up end up being disappointments, but Bestia was so worth it!  It was crazy that literally everything I ordered was amazing.  Plus, the place has really nice ambiance and really really good people watching.  I gotta get back there at least every 3 months I think...

Today I drove all the way down to the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel to have brunch at the Raya Restaurant there.  They have a great 3 course Sunday brunch with mimosas.  Food was delicious, we had a great group of people, weather was perfect and this was the view!  I wish I could have stayed and spent the night there!  Seriously, if it wasn't such a long drive (about 150 miles round trip!) for me, I would go there all the time.

Anyway.... I, of course, had known that this weekend was going to be calorically damaging for me.  So I went to the gym pre-emptively.  =P  After taking the last 2 weeks off and doing my friend's workout videos, I went back to the gym this week and started back on my Get Glutes program.  I started month 10 workouts!  So basically I have officially started the second half of the program now.  For month 10, they did a theme of "back to basics".  So the workouts are the basic back squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses, etc.  Nothing fancy.  That suited me well since 2 weeks off is a long time so it's nice to do simple(r) exercises that I'm used to.

To my dismay, I found on day 1 that my strength had decreased quite a bit.  I also didn't want to push too hard in the beginning since I planned to complete all my workouts this week, instead of being too sore to do so.  But I still ended up pretty sore!  I think my strength did come back up a bit towards the end of the week as well.  But maybe not back to where I was prior to break yet.  Well... this is the unpleasant truth of it - you gotta keep lifting regularly, or you WILL lose progress.  I guess it's somewhat discouraging but on the other hand, it can also be used as a motivation to keep going.  Though there are some "muscle memory" or whatever it's called, because you do gain it back quicker than the first time.

Monday 7/27
What I did:  Strength #1, plus 20 minutes of plyo work on the treadmill.

What I wore:  Onzie Glossy Flow tank with Lululemon Free To Be bra in laceoflage.  Lululemon Run For Fun crop in paisley embossed.  Nike Free 5.0 TR Fit 4 shoes in ash.

Lorna Jane Emille jacket as to and from:

Tuesday 7/28
What I did:  Strength #2.

What I wore:  Lululemon Breezy Singlet in white/grape fruit with Lorna Jane Lola bra under.  Lululemon Empower Crop in coal/passion, and tried out my new Onitsuka Tiger Serrano sneakers in blue bell.  These are not meant for the gym, but I think they are completely ok for weight lifting.  I had no issues, other than my feet feeling a bit hotter in them than in my Nike shoes that have mesh venting.

Splits59 Vail cutout pullover in ice as to and from, to be super matchy-matchy with the shoes!

Wednesday 7/29 - Rest day

Thursday 7/30
What I did:  Strength #3

What I wore:  Lululemon Scoop Me Up tank in caspian blue with new Lululemon SE Roll Down Wunder Under crop in wee are from space silver spoon mesh, and same Tiger shoes again.  I had no idea when I got these shoes that I'd have so many things that matched them!

Again, to be super matchy-matchy (haha), I wore my Titika Flower jacket as to and from:

Friday 7/31
What I did:  Strength #4

What I wore:  Splits59 Camille singlet with Lululemon Embody crop in inkwell/fresh teal/pop orange and Nike Free 3.0 shoes.

Lululemon Beach Runner jacket in dune/fresh teal as to and from to match the crops again.  I guess I've been in a matching mood lately!

I had planned to complete my weight sessions by Friday so that I could take yesterday and today off as rest days.  Will have to do it again next week since I will again have plans next weekend!

Alright, it is way past my bed time now!  I did a lot of window shopping this weekend.  After brunch today, I went to South Coast Plaza to browse.  Ended up trying on a bunch of shoes in the Louboutin store lol.  My feet are so tired that they are in desperate need of rest.  Lol... I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Goodnight!

  1. What did you think of the WAFS *SE mesh crops during your workout?? I found them kind of big and yet the vertical seams looked really weird when I did a deep squat. Was a bit disappointed.

    1. I actually do feel that they look a little weird from the back with the seams and colorblocking. But I didn't look at the back view while I was at the gym. They seemed ok for the most part. They are definitely not the most compressive... they are cute though! =P
