Sunday Funday!

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all having a great new year so far!  I only had to work on Thursday and Friday this week, but I was sooo tired!  I think it's because I got used to going to bed and getting up late while I was on vacation, it was so hard to wake up at 6 am again.  Can you tell I'm not a morning person?  I was so tired that I didn't even feel like going to the gym!  That almost never happens.  But I went anyways and got all my workouts in.  I was afraid that my gym would be super crowded, but it wasn't at all!  I guess that's one of the perks of paying a lot for a gym membership.

Speaking of my gym, they put out this great video that I want to share with you all.  The guy in this video is a running coach here in LA and teaches at Equinox.  His name is David Siik, you might know him since he frequently appears on the cover of Runner's World and other fitness magazines.  I actually ran with him a couple times back in the day.  He is (at least was) an ambassador with the Lululemon Brentwood location, and I used to go to their weekly run club about 4 years ago.  He went to lead the running group a couple times.  I doubt he remembers me at all, but the short amount of time I spent running with him had actually taught me quite a few useful things!  So, here you guys go... I am obsessed with this video.  He used to be a competitive runner, and he just makes running look so easy, it's crazy! He's also eye candy lol, and the video is very well done I think... and short!  So click to watch :)

Also, here is the accompanying article if you are interested in reading more.  I wish I could workout at a place with that view everyday!

My other exciting share of the week is Julep nail polish.  I actually received it in a nice dark gray color, called Daria, from the Fitness Magazine blogger event I went to.  I love this polish!  You only need one coat and it goes on streak free, and dries super fast!  I know a lot nail polishes say they dry fast, but they really don't.  This one DOES!  It also lasts a long time without chipping.  I love it.  I top it with the Formula X polish in bionic and I think the effect is pretty cool!

Anyways... let's get on with this week's workouts and outfits!

Monday 12/30
What I did:  Lower body weights, straight set.

What I wore:  Lole Fly tank in fusion coral with Lululemon Power Vinyasa crop and Nike Frees in violet.

I wore the Splits59 Vail cutout pullover as to and from.  I love this pullover and have 2 already.  They are having a sale now so if you are interested, now is your chance!  I like that the one I have matches my shoes.  Hehe.

Tuesday 12/31
What I did:  Upper body weights, shoulder & tri.  I also did my 30 minute cardio session afterwards on 15% incline treadmill.

What I wore:  Lorna Jane Inspire tank with the new Lorna Jane Sunrise bra under it - I loved the combo!  Lululemon Ebb & Flow crops, and Nike Frees in violet again since it goes so well with the top.

My favorite Splits59 jacket as to and from:

Wednesday 1/1
What I did:  I almost didn't make it to the gym!  I spent NYE at my friend's place, kind of by Palm Springs, so I slept in and took my time in the morning and didn't get back home till like 2 pm.  My gym was closing at 4 that day.  I decided it would have made me feel better if I went lol.  It did.  :)  I worked on my back and bi, then instead of my usual 30 minute cardio, I actually did 20 min of HIIT.

What I wore:  Lululemon cool racerback in currant, with Lorna Jane Portia bra under it.  Splits59 Ginger crops, and Nike Free Bionics in purple.  I sadly realized that the size S Ginger crops are just too big for me now.  I'm glad I have a pair in XS, and just sold the two size S pairs to a nice lady who will be able to get more use out of them than me!  :)

Lorna Jane Sophia LS as to and from:

It never shows up well on pics, but I love this top layered over bright tanks!  The color shows through the mesh, it looks super cool!  This close up is slightly better:

Thursday 1/2 - Rest day

Friday 1/3
What I did:  Dragged my butt to the gym after work even though I was falling asleep since I woke up lol.  I did my legs, tough one too.  The strength and plyo superset.  Then 30 minutes of cardio!  I did my usual 1 min of fast pace and 45 seconds of slower pace on the gauntlet instead of the treadmill.

What I wore:  Lululemon Power Y tank in groovy stripe multi, with Lorna Jane Devoted 7/8 tight and New Balance Minimus shoes.

These shoes got so dirty from when I wore them to go hiking last weekend.  So I actually threw them in the washer, and they came out super clean and white!  Like new again!  They needed it cuz they were turning gray even before the hike lol.

Yay!

I wore the Lululemon white swiftly LS as to and from.  I love white over bright colors!

Saturday 1/4
What I did:  I went to the gym to do my last weight workout of the week - the upper body supersets.  Then the last cardio workout too!  30 minutes of treadmill.

What I wore:  Lululemon swiftly racerback in very green, with Lorna Jane Mosaic tights worn as crops and purple Nike Free Bionics.

I wore my soft Abercrombie LS top and to and from:

I think this is really funny... I went to dinner last night at this restaurant called Gorbals.  I've been there a couple times before and they've got a very good and interesting menu (bacon wrapped matzo ball, bone marrow, banh mi poutine, etc.).  But it's located in the creepiest hotel in downtown LA - Alexandria Hotel!  This is exactly what it looks like when you first walk into the hotel... the door at the end of the hallway is the restaurant lol.  If you didn't know it was there, you'd never find it.  No one is around to ask either.  It's nice inside though.

But seriously... who would stay at this hotel??  It has to be haunted.  It's in a not-so-good area of downtown as well.  Not skid row scary, and a lot of hipsters have moved into the area in recent years.  But definitely lots of sketchy people around lol.

Sunday 1/5
What I did:  My 20 minutes of stadium stairs workout, done in my stair case.  :)

What I wore:  This is a very old school outfit - Lululemon Power Y tank in three print, with Lululemon Jog skirt in coal, and Adidas adizero adios 2 shoes.

Well that's it for the first week of 2014!  Tomorrow we shall continue with the grind.  :)

  1. Hey, thanks for Sunday Funday-Love!

When you're on the treadmill for 30 minutes on the 15% incline, are you steady with one pace or do alternate high/low?
Any chance you would consider posting what your workouts include for one week...like reps/sets? I would love to read.

I can tell your back is getting bigger(in a good way) because its shrinking your waist. You look amazing and are very inspiring. I look forward to your entries every Monday morning so thank you.

    1. Thanks Kathy! I have actually been working my back a looooot! Finally beginning to see some definition there... glad you can tell too! LOL!

When I do my treadmill work, I put it on 15% incline and I walk at around 4.8mph for a minute, then around 3.3mph for 45 seconds. Repeat for entire 30 minutes. It's basically a HIIT type of workout without actually running. So during the fastest pace, it should be whatever the fastest is you can do for a minute without breaking into a run. It should feel like running would almost be easier...

I'll definitely do a post soon with more details of the workouts!

  2. I love reading these posts!
You are looking leaner and stronger every week. Very inspiring and motivating! You should totally wear skirts/shorts more often since your quads look incredible.
