Sunday Funday!

I was going to start studying for my CFA Level 3 test this weekend, but I keep putting it off by doing more important things, such as shopping, eating, working out, blogging lol.  And I got a couple books on my Kindle Touch just to distract myself some more.  I even managed to sell my old study material from Level 2 on ebay - somebody actually bought it for a pretty penny within a few hours!  So this Sunday Funday is the last thing I have on my to do list before I really run out of excuses to study.  Sadness!

Anyway, before I start I would like to point out why you should never buy Lululemon items with writing on them using this reflective material or whatever you call it.

Here are my *reversible* Wunder Grooves in Generation Electric Manifesto after having worn them reversed solid black side out.  I just wore these today and noticed how bad they are now after I took them off.

I have had these for a while, but the peeling started happening pretty soon after I wore that side on the inside.  As a result, I have not been able to wear it on the outside for a long time.  Of course that just makes the writing peel more and more.  I should just peel them all off so they don't keep coming in bits and pieces all over me.  I'm pretty disappointed and will never buy anything that uses this technique again.

Ok, now onto the fun part!  I decided to finally start doing the weight lifting program from New Rules of Lifting for Women, since it looks pretty good and it will make my workouts easier when I don't have to think about what to do next.  There are lots of workouts in the book in order of progression.  I started at the beginning and since I've been lifting for a while, it hasn't been too hard.  But I focus on using as much weight as I can so I still break out in sweats pretty fast.  I figure if I can go lift 3 times a week on average, this program will last me from now until June!

Here are my stage 1 workouts A and B.  I'm supposed to alternate them until I have done each one 8 times.  But I am actually just going to do each one 4 times.  Starting from 2 sets of 15 reps each.  Ending at 3 sets of 8 reps each.  Hopefully increasing the weights.  I want to do it like this to see how I improve.

So while I'm doing this program, I'm actually not doing any cardio.  It's nice to be able to get in and out of the gym within 30 minutes!

Monday 1/2
What I did:  It was New Years holiday, so I went to the gym with my hubby to lift weights.  I hadn't started my program yet, so I just did whatever he wanted to do.

What I wore:  Lululemon Cool Racerback in Bubbulicious, with my new Flow Y bra in heathered coal mini check, with Astro Wunder Unders in Denim Slub.  It's interesting that the bra and bottom looked almost the same even though they are totally not.

Tuesday 1/3
What I did:  Lifted weights on my own at the gym.  This was the day before I decided to start the new program, so I just did whatever I felt like.  I'm glad I have more direction now.

What I wore:  Lululemon Cool Racerback in Majestic Purple, with dewberry 50 Rep Bra under, and Passion Crop in power purple.  I love different shades of purple together, even though you can't really see the waistband of the pants.

Wednesday 1/4:  Rest day

Thursday 1/5
What I did:  This was the first day of my new workout program, so I did workout A above.  2 set of 15 reps per exercise.

What I wore:  Lululemon Tri Y Tank, with Bright Blue Passion Crop, and my Nike Frees that made a complete match of blue outfit lol.  Yes I did think it was a bit much, but who cares.

Friday 1/6
What I did:  Workout B.  Also 2 sets of 15 reps each.

Saturday 1/7:  Rest day from the gym.  Though I did go shopping (does that count?) at the Americana, since I had a massage appointment in Glendale.  I bought this Groupon deal that was like $60 for 3 hour long massages.  And the masseuse guy was amazing!  Probably the best massage I've ever had, and cheapest.  I feel bad for business that do deals like this on Groupon or Livingsocial though, because those companies take 50% of profits and it's really bad for small businesses.  Sometimes they give such a good deal and over-sell, then they are actually losing money each time.

Sunday 1/8:
What I did:  I got up early to go to pilates class.  Then I wanted to avoid studying so bad, that I did an interval class with my hubby.  I meant to take it easy because I strained my shoulder muscle on Friday, but working out is better than studying lol.  This is one of the times my hubby is a good influence on me, when he's not ordering pizza, for example.  I read somewhere that married women or women who live with men tend to gain more weight than women living alone.  Because men like to eat unhealthy food and drink beer I guess... I workout so much harder and eat much better than my hubby but he is still in better shape than me.  Not fair!

Since I only lifted weights all week with no cardio, I really felt winded during my sprints today!  Wow, didn't think a week would make such a big difference!  But I got extra hungry after the workout, so maybe it means I'm burning more calories!  =)

What I wore:  My new Lululemon Hot Class tank in bold blue!  And Wunder Grooves that I posted above, black side out!  And I threw on my super matchy matchy black/bold blue Principle Jacket.

Ok, all done.  I guess I have to go study now.  =(

  1. For your wunder unders, you can bring them to the store they might do something for you. I have a friend that has the same problem and they told her to pick an another pair free.

  5. About groupon/living social And all others I was told The companies get paid full price by groupon But they have to buy a minimum amount of publicity. I don't know if it is true.

  6. @LuluC We have done both living social and Groupon for the fitness study that I teach and manage at and it has always been a 50/50 split of the discounted price you offer. That is why it is killing small businesses, since they still have to pay their employees but only receiving maybe a quarter of the purchase price. Plus lack of repeat customers since they can just find another deal next time around.

  8. J'ai le même pantalon mais je n'ai pas eu ce problème, je suis chanceuse. Ton nouveau tank avec la veste est très joli. Je te fais un peu travailler ton Français!

  9. Hi Audrey, yes you are lucky. I think I will try taking them back to the store this weekend and see what they say. I don't know why but I get embarrassed by things like this even though I know it's not my fault. I was returning my pants at the Limited over the weekend and this lady was demanding to return her sweaters that she bought 2 years ago, and I just don't want to be that person... this kind of stuff gives me anxiety lol

  10. @the husband thx for the info!

@mysuperficial I think lulu warranties its clothing for 5 years. If you still have you invoice bring it! They definitely have a quality issue on this. If no ones returned defective items, they will never know!

    Let us know!

  11. BTW - your body is nuts, keep up the good work and I haven't noticed the xmas weight you refer to. Also, can you please advise if the Flow Y Mini Check bra you bought felt tighter than other Flow Y's you have? I bought the same one and find it tight in the armpit zone. It's my first Flow Y so I can't compare the fit to other fabrics. I appreciate your help on this one.

  12. @Lulu Citron: I know, I will take them to the store this weekend and try out my luck! Will let you know!

@Anon: Thanks!! And about the Flow Y bra, I found it to be about the same as my other Flow Y bras in size 4 (I also have a couple Flow Ys in size 6). I think the Flow Y bra does fit on the tighter side, and cuts in on the back below the armpits a little bit. Sizing up one doesn't really take away much supportiveness. On my "fat" days, I prefer to wear it in size 6. Lol.

  13. Thanks for your response about the Flow Y Mini Check. It's so weird that its not working out for me. I have a small frame/34B chest and bought the size 4 but it just cuts in in this uncomfortable way, the bottom band is fine though...oh well.
