Lulu Overload!!! Lots of New Stuff!

My big box of Lulu stuff came today.  I don't think I ever ordered this much stuff at once before!  But it's super fun, like opening 10 Christmas presents at once!

I think I will start with what I love and will for sure keep down to what I think I will return:

Stuff Your Bra tank in fossil/flash, and flash/deep coal Speed Shorts.

Omg, love this tank!  It's super comfy and supportive.  I actually ordered a size up in this tank - 6.  I saw it the other day at the store in a different color, and it looked so small.  So I figured it might run tight.  The 6 fits well, the bra portion is still supportive and doesn't dig in.  The body of the tank is loose fitting, and is very pretty with the subtle jacquard mesh print on it.  the bottom hem is elastic and it also has plastic gripper that keeps it in place.  It actually reminds me a lot of my Light Up tank from the chest down, which I love.

Here are some official pics from Lululemon's website:

I think it's cool that you can put stuff in the bra, but I don't think I would really do it, unless it's just some cash or something really light.  I will definitely not do this:

LOL - why is there tissue stuffed in the bra???  I don't ever need tissue when I run.  I also don't need chapstick, and it looks ridiculous with the iphone in - I tried it.  When I first saw the photo of this tank in rose quartz a couple weeks ago all stuffed up, I thought it was an April Fool's joke.

Let's talk about the Speed Shorts - I love it in flash!!  It's actually flash jacquard mesh too, but you can only see up close.  I don't know what it is with flash, but it seriously makes you look tanner than you are.  I got some sun last weekend in San Diego, but not nearly as tan as I look against flash.  Love that! The shorts are so cute, but I think I should size up to 6.  I haven't bought Speed shorts in a long time, and last time I ordered them I thought the butt portion was way too big and loose.  Now it's a cute fit, but I prefer the looser fit on the model photos.  So I'm gonna go to the store and see if they have any size 6s left - they are all sold out online!

Next up, I will definitely be keeping the concord grape Dance Studio Crop, shown with the white swiftly LS.

I love my Dance Studio crops.  I have 3 pairs - black, wren, and white (with liner).  So these are my 4th pair.  It sounds a bit excessive, but I wear them a lot in the summer.  I might even consider getting a 5th pair.  They are pretty much my go-to when I can't figure out what else to wear.  They are also great for traveling.  They don't wrinkle and they are super light weight.  You can literally stuff them anywhere in your bag and be good to go once you arrive.  I love the concord grape color in these.  I tried on the pant version and couldn't commit to the color, but definitely can in the crop version.  I ordered a size 4 which is the same size as my other Dance Studio crops, but these are definitely looser in the waist.  I thought that when I tried on the pants in the store but now I have confirmation that they indeed run bigger in this color.  But it's ok, I'm keeping them in this size.

I always wear my Dance Studio Crops cinched up on the bottom, not like how the model has them.

Or slightly lower like the web banner photo is really cute too - they look great with green shoes!

I think I have a new found love for flash.  It makes me happy.  I also love it in the cool racerback, even though it is heathered.  The color looks so much nicer in person than in the web photo.  It's a lot brighter, like a highlighter color.  Bright colors seriously make you look more tan.  This cool racerback fits tighter than some of my other ones - I'd say it fits about the same as raspberry, black manifesto and aruba cool racerbacks which I always found to fit a bit tighter than others in the same size.  Maybe the older versions (with the little round size sticker on the inside of the hem) fit tighter.

I am wearing the White Denim Embrace Crop with the tank - now we are treading into the "maybe keep" category.  I don't know how I feel about them.  The white denim looks a bit murky, almost like a light gray.  And the bottom patch portion is a crisp white so there is definitely a contrast.  You can't see this as well on the web photo since they took the picture white on white.

I ordered these in size 6 as well because I wanted them to be looser since they are white.  They are very comfortable on, but I don't know if I like the waist.  On me, it kind of goes right on top of the love handle area, and accentuates it.  I feel like it's not as flattering as most other Lulu bottoms.  So I will likely take this one back.

I also ordered 2 of the Jacquard Mesh SE cool racerbacks, in white and rose quartz.  But I really wish there was another color available!

Here's the white one, I might keep it but leave the tag on in case another color comes out.

I actually really love this mesh material.  It's so soft and stretchy.  It's got a very organic feel to it.  It's slightly see-through, as you can see in the above photo.  You can totally see the waistband of the shorts.  I was wearing a white bra under, but if I had a flash bra it would look so cute as the color shows through.

Here are better quality photos of it:

I like this pattern but I'm not sure if it looks like a table cloth in white.  But I definitely like it better than rose quartz.  I'm returning the rose quartz.

This color just doesn't appeal to me that much.  It looks a bit murky and old.  I was hoping it would look better in person than online, which seems like the case a lot of the times.  But unfortunately not this time.

Ok, lastly, I bought the concord grape It's A Cinch Dress.  This color is very pretty.  Why can't they make a mesh cool racerback in it?!  Maybe it will come out as I hold onto my white.

I think it's a cute dress, but nothing special especially for $88.  So I'm thinking I will take it back.  Plus, it is a bit see-through so I don't know if I can wear it without bathing suit or at least boy shorts under.  I thought it'd be a cute dress to just throw on in the summer for casual wear, but I think it costs too much for what it is.

There are cinch strings on both sides so you can wear it like a tunic.  I don't think I'd do this though, I think it looks weird.  Just give me a cool racerback in it.  Lol.

This web model looks so cute in it though.  This is the reason I bought it to begin with.

I think these web photos make the pattern look way more obvious than in person, probably because they had very bright lighting.  When I put it on, I could barely tell it's patterned, except the chest area with my white bra under.  You can even see the outline of the model's legs on the bottom 2 photos, so that gives you an idea of the sheerness.

Anyway, I think I'll try to visit the store this week to return some of this stuff and look at other things.  I wouldn't mind picking up something else in flash!  I'd also like to try on the Pure Balance tank and hope they fixed the fit from the last batch which was very unflattering on my chest - kind of took them apart and spread them in opposite directions.  I'd also like to try on the Chaturanga tank but won't buy it in any of the current color selections.  Why can't this one come in flash?  Or a solid concord grape?

I am happy that I didn't fall absolutely in love with everything I ordered online, because the whole order was almost $550 lol.  Maybe I'll be able to recoup about $250 if I return the dress, crops, and mesh cool racerback.  It's crazy how much this workout stuff costs!

    1. Thanks! I think maybe I'm just not used to the tunic look because I never wear tunics...

    1. No problem! Well, it's expensive stuff, but at least you can re-sell older stuff and recoup some money back right? Not many other brands gives you the opportunity to do that. At least that's how I justify to myself. =)

  4. I agree this year studio crops run big. I bought deep coal when they went out without try them and the waist is too big. I have 3 pairs from last year (black coal wren) and wear them all the time.

I also ordered the concord version and took no chance this time I ordered two sizes! So I will have 5 pairs of these as well!

I have the cinch dress from last year in black and debated if i should kept it at the time and I'm glad I did because I wore it often with jeans or black pants and knee high boots. You should try out some working outfits with it!

  5. Oooh loving the concord grape crops! You're making me braver to wear them. The mesh CRBs are my other favorite. I think you should definitely keep the white one.

  7. My order was almost the same as yours. The Stuff Your Bra tank did not work for me, sadly. I also sized up, to an 8, but while it fit in the chest, it was much too poofy and shapeless in the middle. But I went into the store and bought the bra and that is gorgeous too. I never wear an 8 in anything, but definitely had to size up in this. About the Embrace crop: I returned them yesterday for the exact reason you mentioned - the grey is murky. I kept looking at the denim when I tried them on at home and I just wasn't happy with the tint. It looks vaguely dirty against the bright white. Keeping the flash CRB and the white jacquard tanks - wasn't sure at first, but they are nice pieces to have. I also bought the marathon crop to match the bra. Wow, the fit is lovely and they skim nicely over the knee. Highly recommend these (and I have a lot of crops) Vicki

    1. I tried on the Marathon Crop and liked them as well - except they are kind of hard to put on because the waist band is not stretchy enough. I had a moment of... "oh crap, how much weight did I gain". Hahaha.

I worked out in the Stuff Your Bra tank today. Omg, love it so much.

I ordered the white denim Dhanurasana crop today to see how they will be. Maybe the color will be better without the crisp white portion!

  8. Wow, everything looks great on you! I especially love the stuff your bra tank, flash CRB, and embrace crops on you. Thank you for posting these pictures, it gives us a more accurate idea of how bright the colors are and how the items fit in real life. Question... does the fabric of the flash speed shorts feel stiff to you, or soft? Trying to decide if I should get a pair or not.

    1. I think it does feel a little stiff. But the cuteness outweighs it. Lol.

  9. Did you ever exchange your flash speed shorts for a size 6? I'm wondering what size to order myself. I've never worn speeds before but am a size 6 in Grooves and a size 4 pacesetter/speed skirts. My hips are 35" but have no butt to speak of, lol!
I love LOVE LOOOOOVE the SYB tank in Flash/fossil!! I became so obsessed with it that I finally got one off of Ebay (they never did make it to the Canada site). It looks fantastic on you, paired with your speeds! I just ordered the flash pacesetter to go with mine :)

    1. You know, actually I went to exchange them for a size 6 and I did not like the size 6 on me at all. It was way too baggy in the butt as well as thigh area. But I don't like the way the size 4 fits in the waist - it cuts in on top of the waistband right around your love handle area. I think these shorts just won't really work for me. So sadly, I returned them. I also told myself that I can't wear many of my tops with these shorts other than black, white, and coal so they weren't that functional. That's what I had to think to part with them anyway lol.

Oh I LOVE the SYB tank! I seriously think it's going on my Best Of 2012 list already. And the color combo is awesome. I can't believe it never made it to Canada!! Maybe it will later? But you already have one now so no worries! I bet you had to shell out big bucks for it on ebay huh? Sometimes it's worth it for something you really want!
