About Me

Welcome to my blog!

This is a place where you can discover all my latest findings and currently coveted items in all things pretty.  You will probably think that I have a severe shopping addiction, and you are probably right.  I try to downplay this from my real life friends but let it out in full force online.  I like to find good deals, but I wouldn't call myself a bargain shopper.  That's just way too much work for me!  I am happy to spend more money on quality items when necessary, and I like mixing things up.  Honestly though, most of the time my desire to own something outweighs any monetary considerations as long as it's not too unattainable!  Yep, I am a true addict!  =D

When I first started this blog in the beginning of 2010, I simply wanted a place where I could categorize all my purchases.  But being a fitness enthusiast, it has evolved over the years to become more fitness oriented.  Admittedly, I now spend way too much money on workout gear!  But I go to the gym 5-7 days a week, and having cute workout clothes to wear is a definite motivator for me!  I've been an avid Lululemon addict for years, as you can see by the hundreds of Lululemon items that I have posted about.  But lately I've been trying to branch out and try out other great brands that have emerged onto the scene.  Some of my new favorite brands include Lorna Jane, Splits59, Lole, Lija, Alo Sport, and those yummy Beyond Yoga leggings!  I'm always on the lookout to discover more, and appreciate the tips and advice that my lovely readers give me!

If you are new to my blog, the usual format is that I post about different items I buy during the week, and every Sunday, I do a "Sunday Funday" post which chronicles my workout routine from that week as well as pictures of outfits that I wore.  I do have a full time corporate desk job as well (unfortunately a must in order to pay for my expensive shopping habit), so I post items and pictures relevant to workplace wear as well.  Of course, I do also include outfits worn during a night out on the town or on a brunch or shopping trip on the weekend.  I cut off my head from my pictures for a bit more anonymity - I don't want my face to appear all over google image search when someone looks for an item I've reviewed!

My topics are generally pretty light-hearted and yes, superficial.  But hey, what else would you expect after seeing the blog title? =P  I don't really talk about other aspects of my life too much, but those of you who have been long time readers had been put through all those wedding related posts!  I got married about 1.5 years ago after dating about 3 years, but that fell apart quickly and I am now in the middle of a divorce... and I'm not even 30 yet!  Now that is a whole other story that I'm not going to get into here.  But I believe in the end this was the right decision.  Though I miss Whiskey, the dog we had together who used to make quite a lot of appearances in my photos on this blog.  I wish things had happened differently, but... c'est la vie.

When I'm not shopping or working out at the gym, I do have a stable and good paying job in finance.  However, it does not fulfill me and I always wonder if I should just jump to a completely different field that I like better.  But what would that be exactly?  And how do I do that?  There are many unanswered questions and it is scary, so I am just stuck in the same position now waiting to see if and when I'll gather up enough strength for a big leap.

So, all the above topics are likely to come up from time to time.  I really appreciate you reading and sharing a part of my life with me.  I've "met" many great, like-minded readers throughout the years that I never would have come in contact with otherwise.  I love sharing my new shopping finds and fitness journey with you all! At times I am floored by your kindness and concern about my well-being.  To think that we are all united by our common love of shopping!  The superficial becomes not so superficial, and I am truly thankful for your support.

  1. Hi there!
I have been following your blog for a few weeks now (as a fellow Lulu addict!) and just took the time to read your "about me". What a great story!
Thanks for all your great clothing and product reviews - and for being so down to earth.

  2. Hi Dawn,
Thanks so kind of you. =)
I just browsed through your site - very cool! You have a great story yourself. I wish you were local because your program definitely sounds like my cup of tea! Funny I really thought about going down the route of becoming a certified nutritionist and fitness trainer as well. Maybe I will one day!

  3. I've been enjoying your blog posts for some time now and just read your 'About Me' section. Your life is very inspirational. I look forward to the same things in life - travel, friends, family, photography and shopping (mostly lulu). I'm so pleased to learn more about you. I sure hope I get to visit all the places you have in the future. I'm a bit of a photo nut myself, as a graphic designer I have a great love of all things - you can find so much beauty in such small things when you learn to look at them differently. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Thank you so much Erin! Do you have a website or blog of your photography? Sounds like you are a pro! I wanted to be a graphic designer for the longest time, but I picked Econ as my major instead. Lol. So now I just do a little bit picture taking and photoshopping for fun. I definitely agree about finding beauty in ordinary things. I think you can really find beauty in anything if you have the eye for it! I would love to see some of your photos!

  5. Hi!
I just stumbled onto your blog today while I was doing some "window shopping" online for Lululemon gear.
Loved reading about you and your travels.
Life is truly amazing and we should always make the most of what we have.
By the way, I have some good friends who are professional tennis players (on ATP tour) and they LOVE TRX.
    I tried it once...ouch!
I'll stick to my Bikram for now.
Best of luck and I'll definitely keep reading your stuff.

  9. You look amazing! I was just wondering. You have such great Lululemon clothes. Can you still wear them now that you are so much thinner? For instance, your Lulu studio crops and pants, etc. Are they too big on you now? I am thinking of starting a regimen but (I know this sounds silly) I'm a little afraid that all my clothes will not fit anymore and there goes a lot of money!

  10. Hi! Congrats of meeting so many of your personal goals! I know you own a lot of great lululemon which is pricey wear. With your weight loss, can you still wear them? For instance, i know you own several pairs of studio crops and pants (as do I). Do you know need to get rid of them? One of my worries about losing weight is that all my clothes won't fit and that's a lot of money down the toilet!

    1. My Dance Studio pants fit fine still - I had both size 2 and size 4 before and I can still wear them depending on how baggy I feel like wearing on a particular day. All my workout clothes still fit as well since they are stretchy to begin with. I've had to tie the waist more with a couple pairs of crops but that's no big deal. If I really have to start wearing a size down, I am sure I can re-sell them and recoup a big chunk of the money I spent - that's the good thing about Lululemon!

My non-stretchy casual or work wear are definitely bigger though, especially in the waist. I can still wear all the shirts but some of my pants/skirts are kind of falling off!

  11. I love your About page. I've spent the last 20 min. reading. You are a fitness fashionista! I'm a huge Lorna Jane fan. I bought a ton of it at the IDEA convention in Aug. Best fit ever! Congrats on your transformation both personal life and physically. Cheers

  12. Have you ever read the blog "Peanut Butter Runner"? She had a good paying corporate job tat wasn't fulfilling her either. She took a leap and became a yoga and body pump teacher after quitting her job. Working out is what she loved ad makes her happy. During that transition in her life she also went through a divorce and is about your age. She is now the manager of a gym and is doing what she loves. She's very inspiring. You should check out her blog. Oh, and she also loves Lululemon;)

Very sorry to read about your current martial situation, but judging by your headless pics, you will never have a problem finding the "right" guy for you. Good luck. Now..go take a motorcycle for a rip up the Big Sur...you'll love it :)
