Portland

I'm going to Portland tomorrow until most of next week for some Microsoft class for work.  Who knew being a quant analyst at a money manager requires so much IT skills?  I've never been to Portland, but I know they don't have sales taxes there so maybe I can squeeze in some duty-free shopping!  But this might hinder my plans...

Screen shot from my iphone:

And here's the weather forecast for LA next week:

Ughhhh... sad face.

I'm from LA where it lightly drizzles like twice a year, so I don't have any shoes or outerwear that would work in cold and rainy weather.  I don't even have an umbrella!  LOL!  This should make packing interesting...

  1. Haha! Having an umbrella in Portland says you're a tourist :) We all have rain jackets with hoods - its just water after all. Hope you enjoy our city.

  2. Ohhh any must see recommendations for me? Or restaurants? I've heard that Portland is a very beautiful city.

I do have a snowboarding jacket with a hood. Maybe that'll work! Haha

  3. So many great restaurants!!! To name a few....Laurelhurst Market, ClarkLewis, Le Pigeon (French), Beast, Paley's Place (French one of my all time favorites), Red Onion (Thai), Departure, Navarre, Ruth's Chris (Steakhouse), Biwa (Japanese), Pok Pok (amazing Thai street food), Nuestra Cucina, Park Kitchen, Toro Bravo, Prost, Bamboo Suishi, Ken's Artisan Bakery, Irving Street Kitchen, Andina, Apizza Scholls, St Honore (great French Bakery), Screen Door, Oba, Higgins, Clyde Common and many more. Portland is known for great restaurants, microbrews (The McMennamin Bros Kennedy School is great) coffee (stumptown, ristretto roasters), food carts and more. I hope you enjoy your week here.

  5. Wow thanks for all the restaurant recommendations! I hope to make it to some of them.

Hehe I wouldn't really have a need for a jacket like that, but I do kind of wish I had bought the Inspire jacket!!

  10. Yes! I got the Green Dragon cowl neck top in the pinkish color. I liked it better than the black because the buttons down the side really stand out. Can't wait to get it! Yayyy!

Here's the link to it: http://www.hautelook.com/product/1328614 sooo cute!

  11. Oh that's the one I wanted to get too but my size was "on hold" for the longest time and I had something else in my cart that was abt to expire (you know they only let you keep an item in your cart for 15 min). So I couldn't get it. :( Enjoy it for both of us! I like the pink one better too.

  13. I would post a link but I don't think I can on the iPhone - I bought it on the hautelook iPhone app. It's just a cardigan though. Nothing special. I'll prob write about it when I receive it. :)
